FAQ
Common questions about downloads, safety, updates, and support.
Downloaded My Software and Got a Warning? +
Short answer
No need for alarm. Windows flags lesser-known apps by default, especially unsigned ones. My software is open-source and safe when downloaded from official sources.
Long answer
When independent developers distribute software, Windows Defender SmartScreen (or similar tools) may show a warning. This usually happens because the app is new, less common, or not digitally signed with a certificate.
To stay safe:
- Only download from official sources:
- This website: Justagwas.com
- SourceForge: SourceForge
- GitHub: GitHub
- If you're concerned, scan the file with VirusTotal (multi-engine antivirus scanning).
You're welcome to reach out directly - I'm open about how the software works (it's open source). You can inspect the code yourself or ask questions.
Bottom line: warnings are expected for indie software. Trust only official sources, verify if needed, and know I take security seriously.
Is My Software Safe? +
Short answer
Yes - as long as it's downloaded from my official sources.
Long answer
I take pride in building reliable, trustworthy software. Each release is scanned and verified to help ensure your safety. If you see warnings when downloading or installing, it's most likely due to the software being new or unsigned - not because it's harmful.
If you'd like to confirm safety yourself:
- Scan the file via VirusTotal.
- Optionally run it first in a sandbox/virtual machine.
If you have concerns, contact me - your confidence matters.
